The sun was blanketing the sky. Rays of sunlight were streaming through the old pin oak's branches. The pond was a reflecting pool of the big, white cranes that were nested atop the trees there. A lady sat on the cement bench facing the fountain that sprayed a cool mist into the air. She sat reading about the life we were there to pay our last respects to.

Tears and laughter and sorrow were dominant, longing too.

We bid her farewell and until we meet again. And we left. We took food to the family and quickly went on our way.

Our journey toward home led us back by the cemetary.

There he sat on the first row with the casket closed. The grounds workers were carrying sprays of flowers and rolling the green artificial turf into a roll and busying themselves with the last of details before they lay her in the cool ground. I felt like we were going in slow motion as we beheld this scene. Our hearts seemed to quit beating and our heads hung as we watched him mourn for his beloved.

And so what will I do with my today? Will I make moments and memories? Will I forgive? Will I call someone special to me and tell them I'm thinking about them and that I love them? Will I roll the windows down in my car and enjoy the sunshine and breeze? Will I choose to laugh? Will I pray and make sure I'm right with God? Will I do one thing to make my life better? Just one? Will I embrace today and make the most of what I've been given? Will I...?
