Talented Family

LaWanda's hair is the finest that you've ever laid eyes upon! No, wait a minute scratch that...I have major hair envy of Whitney's hair in these photos. It is gorgeous! She is gorgeous! The whole family is gorgeous!

They're all talented beyond measure. They can sing, oh honey, can they sing! He can figure up your taxes like nobody's business! Scott is an accountant amongst many other hats that he wears. Now here's a shameless plug...he specializes in working with ministry. So if any of you preachers/ministry minded folks need help, please email me and I'll get you in touch with him. Now LaWanda...she is like the queen of fabulous! Her hair and outfits never cease to amaze me. She always looks so fine! She can dec-or-ate! She's done many Ladies' Conferences. And her home is beautifully adorned. Christopher can play the drums incredibly! So...when are you going to teach MyRick few tricks Christopher? Whitney is a chef! She made homemade lasagna and homemade chocolate cake and invited us over for lunch one Sunday afternoon. The cakes were so elegant...almost too beautiful to eat. I just about O.D.'ed on the lasagna! And LaWanda made the most divine salad. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I truly cannot say enough amirable things about this family. We love them!

Also, I couldn't not mention that LaWanda's dad is Rev. Jerome Bourn. He was recently with us for several astounding weeks. He built our faith. He ministered. He revived. He is like no other man that MyRick and I have ever met. We have fallen in love with this man and his family. My girls constantly talk about Bro. Bourn and how they wish he were going out to eat with us every Sunday. He gave ALL three of them a ride at the same time on the four wheeler at his house!!!

We call every Tuesday to check on him and his bride. His walk with God is fascinating. We'll never be the same. And if by chance he reads this...The Wagons ARE Coming!!! And here are the talented now...

"You don't think that'll show up in the photos do you?"

"Uh, no. That shouldn't be a problem."

So after I shot the first couple of photos, I said; "Oh man. We're going to have to stop shooting. I can see a scratch on your glasses!!!" They just cracked up. I love what I do.

That's NOT Possible For Me!

As I showed her how to view her photos on the back of my camera she began scrolling to see what the eye of her photographer captured of them. I saw her smile and left her to view the images with her hubby, Erik.

"Surely she'll like 2 or 3 out of all those!" I said as I stood in front of MyRick.
"I don't know why you did all that."
"All what?" I said in a bit of a nasty tone. (yes I did.)
"You took about 4,000 pictures." (really only about two hundred and something)
"Well, I knew I didn't have that much time before the sun went down Mr. Snappy Pants." (I didn't really say Mr. Snappy Pants. But that's what I was thinking.
"Well, they only wanted ONE or TWO snapshots of them."
"WHAT?"

Ashley was supposed to photograph us for our Christmas cards. But, I went to Katelyn's baby shower and didn't make it back in time to do so. My littlest's hair was soaking wet, the sun was racing it's way to the other side of the world and I didn't have time to get us all changed or fix our hair! No big deal I thought. We'll just do it next week.

Enter the comment: "They just wanted ONE or TWO snapshots of them."
"Ashely thought that after she got done shooting us, you'd just take like one or two of her and Erik." I'm like, "ONE or TWO of them?" That's not possible for me! I can't do that! I just sank and then started laughing. I turned to Erik and Ashely and said, "Oh my goodness! I didn't know you wanted only ONE or TWO shots!" They just started busting out laughing. hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!
Oh well. When we got home and began going through her photos on the computer, that 5 or 6 that she said she liked at the restaurant turned into 52!!! I can't blame her. They are beautiful! They were a blast to work with. And she LOVES her ahem, ONE or TWO photos! I can't wait to get one of your Christmas cards Ashley!

We shot in between a warehouse and a quaint little Italian restaurant.

I Am A Portrait Photographer.

I am a portrait photographer. It's people who grab my attention in photographs. I could watch and look at people all day. Portraits completely draw me in as if I were furiously being swept into a whirlwind. Portraiture is powerful. I love looking into the eyes of a child when they are so kind enough to allow me to. They have to trust me. And I love capturing emotion in families.

Many people have called me about weddings and events. But inside I just don't feel it.

The video link from the talented [b]ecker (an awesome teacher and photographer) explains why I specialize in shooting only portraits. Yes, I've shot weddings and events. (I've since retired) I am completely in love with portraiture!

WOW! I Feel Good

DU NU NU NU NU NU NU! I found this picture of MyRick and had to post it. This is SO him when he's preaching. That look he's got on his face and the position of his hand. He was feelin' it honey when I snapped this. He never lets anything get in the way of his worship and dedication to God. His dedication inspires me. I love him. He is a wonderful husband. Look out one day...Minute Maid. Right Bro Smith?

Well Done

This session was SO MUCH FUN! We went to a VERY secret location (downtown Humble) and shot in many (3) different places! This family was fun and relaxed. They were willing to do whatever it took to get the shot! Even if it meant getting white dust all over their backs and sitting on tree roots and old air conditioners. Even if it meant climbing up a 3 ft cement lift deal with HIGH heels and skirts on! I'm telling you they were gung ho and ready to go! And I couldn't be happier with your photos photogenic family! Well-done thy good and faithful subjects! Enter into the joys of the portrait hall of fame!
